City secures Millennium Park Trees

The final piece needed to complete the creation of a community park in the heart Powell River came to conclusion on May 4, 2015 when Mayor Dave Formosa presented Island Timberlands  president Darshan Shihota, with a cheque for $1,181,250.  The cheque represents payment in full for the timber in Millennium Park. The City and Island Timberlands signed an agreement to release IT's timber rights from the Millennium Park lands to the City of Powell River.  Funding for the timber came from the Powell River Community Forest timber sales.  Mayor Formosa acknowledged the efforts of the Powell River Community Forest in assisting with the timber acquisition.  Mayor Formosa also commended the tireless commitment from Eagle Walz and the community to create the living growing community asset that is Millennium Park.  To view the agreement click here.
