Highlights from December 21, 2017 City of Powell River Council Meeting

Development Permit 205 (Joyce at Tofino)
Council voted that Development Permit 205 to facilitate the development of a multifamily residential and commercial mixed-used building on a property at Joyce Avenue and Tofino Street, legally described as Lot B of Lots 1 and 2 Block D DL 1424 Plan 10209 (PID 009-574-921) be approved and be issued. It is one of three properties linked to the development of Pacific Point – a mixed-use development in the Grief Point neighbourhood. The property lies immediately north of the recently developed Pacific Point Market and Suites.
 
Development Permit 206 (Duncan Street west of Fernwood Avenue)
Council voted that Development Permit 206 to facilitate the development of a 16-unit condominium project and legally described as Lot A of Lot 18 Block 4 District Lot 5731 Group 1 New Westminster District Plan 19024 be issued. The proposed 16-unit condominium represents one of the larger, infill multiple-family developments in the City in quite some time.
 
2018 Age-friendly Communities Grant Application
Council voted to approve the grant application to the UBCM and 2018 Age-friendly BC Communities Grant Program Stream 2 in the amount of $15,000 and provide support for the proposed activities and overall grant management.  This project will host engagement meetings to identify champions in the community who are willing to be part of a Seniors Action Table. If funding is obtained, the Seniors Action Table will work with City staff to develop an action plan for the next year, as well as determine potential projects for seniors.
