| At the 07 January Committee of the Whole meeting, facilitator Geoff Allan presented his report regarding the second public consultation event held on 07 December 2009. The purpose of the event was to build on the conversations from the 19 October session. Discussion focused on seven key themes: planning, business development, budgets, environment, arts and culture, City services, youth and families. 40 participants contributed to the discussion.
In commenting on the attendance, Mr. Allan noted that while the attendance was not representative of a broad community opinion, consideration should still be given to the comments from attendees. Staff will now review the comments and prepare a report to Council. The report will provide recommendations regarding changes to process or policies and improvements that may be made which would have the most positive impact on the public. Following consideration of the staff report, Council may decide on a further public meeting to advise of Council’s response to the public’s input.
